STOP’s federal complaint alleges infringement of U.S. Patent No. Re 39,909, entitled “Tracking System for Locational Tracking of Monitored Persons,” by Omnilink with its one-piece OM 200 device and system, by ProTech with its one-piece MTD3000 SMART(r) One Wearable Miniature Tracking Device and system, and by SecureAlert with its one-piece TrackerPAL device and system. The complaint seeks a permanent injunction prohibiting Omnilink, ProTech, and SecureAlert from continuing to offer in the United States their unlicensed one-piece locational tracking products.

We will be hearing more about this I am sure.

The Electronic Monitoring part of our industry continues to be incredibly competitive. And that competition is driving the rapid development of functional whiz bangs for market differentiation. The following press release is typical:

OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — iSECUREtrac Corp. , an industry leader in electronic monitoring, announced today that it can now provide automated voice notification for agents, officers and potential victims in situations where non-complying offenders jeopardize public safety and/or individual safety.

Through an exclusive licensing agreement with AquilaVision Corporation (Missoula, MT), a solutions innovator for law enforcement and other emergency responders, iSECUREtrac can provide voice alerts to officers in addition to text, pager and email notifications when those individuals under community supervision violate the terms of their release. These automated voice alerts can be customized by offender, violation and content. Through a relationship with Invizeon Corporation (Missoula MT), voice messages can be automatically and simultaneously sent to a virtually unlimited number of recipients including potential victims. In minor cases of non-compliance, the supervising agent may be the only person to receive a voice alert. When a major violation occurs, the supervising agent, a law enforcement officer and the potential victim could all receive automatic voice alert messages, sent to cell or landline telephones.

“Our unique voice alert option provides agencies the ability to respond quickly to situations that require immediate escalation to law enforcement officers when an offender violates a key provision of their release,” according to Peter Michel, President and CEO of iSECUREtrac Corp. “In addition, this feature affords agencies the opportunity to alert potential victims when the agency has determined that they may be at risk.”

The proprietary and patent pending voice notification system was developed by AquilaVision Corporation, which was founded in 2002 to deliver cutting edge technology to the law enforcement community, enabling location awareness, notification, emergency response and communication management. Trademarked “OTTER” (Offender Tracking Transport Emergency Response), the voice communication system under an exclusive license by iSECUREtrac:

– Automatically calls any specified device, on any network, as soon as a
violation occurs
– Has the capability to call an unlimited number of devices
– Delivers custom messages by violation and by recipient
– Works without human intervention and does not rely upon a person in a
monitoring center.

“We’re incredibly excited about this opportunity to enhance public and individual safety,” said Chuck Eubank, President and CEO of AquilaVision Corporation. “With this agreement, iSECUREtrac delivers the most complete and robust compliance monitoring solution on the market today. We’re proud to be a part of it.”
